Institute of Medicine (IoM), is the first healthcare profession institution in Nepal. It was established in 1972 AD under Tribhuvan University with the mandate and the responsibility of training all the categories of human resources for health (HRH) needed by the country.
Since then, IOM made a significant contribution to the nation as the center of excellence in medical and healthcare profession education, healthcare services and research.
IOM was established with the following goals:
To produce health-related human resources required for health services and education
To provide health services through its health institutions
To conduct research in health sciences
IOM completed its 50 years journey in medical education in the year 2022. Currently it has 7 constituent campuses, 3 hospitals, 1 central department and 15 affiliated colleges under its umbrella.
IOM is now running more than 50 different programs from bachelor level to the highest doctoral and super-specialization degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health, allied health sciences and traditional medicine through its constituent and affiliate campuses present all over the country.
